Hi–

This is a difficult moment for our country. The Trump administration is
doing the gun lobby's bidding, putting our communities at an even greater
risk of gun violence. That's why our movement is fighting the gun lobby's
dangerous agenda everywhere we can—with a greater focus on state
legislatures.

For the first time in several years, assault weapons bans are moving in
multiple key states. We have a unique opportunity to FINALLY pass
legislation banning deadly assault weapons—the weapons of choice for mass
shooters.

* In New Mexico, there are just 2 days left in the legislative session.
But some shameful lawmakers have been working overtime to shut down
the assault weapons ban. [ [link removed] ]Please, help us hold the leaders
trying to stop our progress accountable by sending them a message and
demanding they vote on this bill, or text NMBAN to 644-33 to make a
call.
* In Rhode Island, we've been advocating for a ban on the sale and
possession of assault weapons for multiple legislative
sessions—because two-thirds of Rhode Islanders support outlawing these
deadly weapons.
* We've been working for years in Hawai'i to pass a true assault weapons
ban—and just two weeks ago, the bill passed decisively off the House
floor! However, we still face obstacles to sign this bill into law. An
intense pressure campaign from Hawai'i volunteers and local allies is
keeping this bill alive despite the odds—and we're going to keep up
the pressure until we finally pass it.

Because we're up against a gun lobby-backed Congress and administration at
the federal level, the progress we make in these states matters more now
than ever.

We can't allow our leaders to keep dragging their feet on popular and
research-backed legislation that we know will save lives.

Together, we can show lawmakers across the country the power of our
movement—and that there's broad support for laws like these that keep our
communities safe.

Thanks for being a part of this movement,

Everytown for Gun Safety
