Hi, this is Sarah. I’d love to take just a moment of your time today to talk about something that’s vital to Delaware — and to all of us: our farmers.
Agriculture is the backbone of Delaware’s economy and much of the U.S. economy. It’s how we feed our families here at home and around the world, and it’s a jobs engine with wide-reaching effects in our daily lives.
Anyone who knows a thing or two about farming knows this: Farmers operate on thin margins. They depend on federal partners to provide stability when the market is volatile.
So when the Trump administration illegally froze programs that purchase products from farmers, shut down funds to help farmers lower their energy bills, and halted bird flu monitoring, they felt the rug pulled out from under them.
All of this resulted in higher costs for farmers and higher prices at the grocery store for folks like you.
The bottom line is this: Republicans here in Washington are putting our farmers at risk. I’m fighting back because when we fail farmers, we fail all Americans. That’s why I stood up for farmers on the House floor and voiced my opposition to any action that threatens our farmers.
