As we speak, millions of Americans sit behind bars for marijuana related
offenses while investors are making millions off distributing the same
substance in the ten states that have legalized it.
In the process of our war on drugs, we’ve destroyed the futures of so many
of our neighbors and communities for nothing. It has to end.
That’s why I’m calling for the full legalization of Marijuana, an
expungement of low-level marijuana offenses from criminal records, and a
reinvestment of the profits of legalization towards restorative justice in
the communities who were ravaged by the war on drugs.

Legalizing marijuana would net nearly $7 billion per year in additional
revenue. That’s $7 billion that could be invested in education or new jobs
— and doesn’t even count all of the money we’d save ending the quixotic
war on drugs.
This isn’t just an economic justice issue either. It’s a racial justice
issue. In suburban America, a white kid caught with marijuana gets a slap
on the wrist and a call to their parents. But for too many black and brown
students across the country, a single offense can destroy their entire
future.

you believe we need to legalize marijuana, reinvest in destroyed
communities, and end the war on drugs:

Instead of spending billions to lock up our own people, let’s use that
revenue to invest in our future.
In solidarity,
