Team, I served three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In the Army, I was proud to fight alongside some of the finest men and women I’ve known. When you’re in the fight, your fellow soldiers don’t care about your gender, race or who you love.

If someone wants to put on the uniform and fight for America, we should welcome that and reward their sacrifices after service.

But instead, Donald Trump is using his executive power to gut programs our veterans depend on.

Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s reckless purge of thousands of federal workers reached the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. They plan to shrink the already thin workforce by over 80,000 employees, and Republicans can’t guarantee that these sweeping cuts won’t affect veterans’ benefits and care.

The sacrifices of all service members should be respected and rewarded. Donald Trump’s recent executive actions are a slap in the face to soldiers and veterans.

I am committed to standing by all of our service members and will continue to advocate for their rights, benefits, and dignity.
