Senate Bill 50i would eliminate the permit requirement for carrying a concealed weapon in North Carolina. This would be a dangerous and deadly move in our state: in other states that have weakened or eliminated their concealed carry permit requirements, firearm homicides increased up to 10.8%,ii and states saw a 29% increase in firearm violent crime.iii
Why is Permitless Carry so deadly? Younger and untrained people who haven't passed a background check would now be legally carrying hidden, loaded handguns. In public. At a restaurant or bar, on the street, or sitting next to you at a concert or a place of worship.
Untrained, younger, and armed - without a background check. This is NOT what responsible gun ownership looks like. This would lead to more gun violence in North Carolina.
We CANNOT let this happen in North Carolina! This is a deadly bill, and must not become law. Email your NC Senator today to stop Permitless Carry!
In this fight together,
Becky & Sara
