Most of California’s water supply originates in mountainous headwater regions, so managing headwaters effectively is paramount for the state’s well-being. Multiple stressors are making some headwater regions more vulnerable to wildfire, however. Read our fact sheet on how California can improve its management of headwaters to reduce severe wildfires.
