Friend, Trump’s strategy for amassing power in his White House was laid out in Project 2025.

Now we are watching as Trump chips away, piece by piece, at the checks and balances that make our democracy possible.

First he signed a flurry of executive orders that far overstepped his powers as President.

Then he allowed unelected billionaire Elon Musk to illegally slash parts of the federal budget that is set by Congress.

Then just last week, Trump ordered the arrest and deportation of a legal permanent resident, Mahmoud Khalil, for exercising his first amendment rights to protest in support of Palestine.

Now he is openly defying a court order that blocked him from using war-time powers to deport a group of immigrants to a super-prison in El Salvador.

Make no mistake, each one of these steps is another step toward authoritarianism and dictatorship.

Our democracy doesn’t work when the President defies the Constitution to go around the Courts and the Congress. We decided 250 years ago that we will no longer live under a King, and we aren’t going back.

We need to be rallying our strength, and building a broad, pro-democracy movement in this country that refuses to accept these abuses of power.
