Hi John,
My last message introduced 13-year-old Adnan*, a Syrian boy born into brutal violence.
Today, I tell Adnan’s story through his father’s eyes. Saeed* has watched his children’s lives completely unravel. As a mom, I can’t imagine a more unbearable pain.
Conflict forced his family to leave everything behind: irreplaceable keepsakes, legal documents, money. Once, they were even separated in an unfamiliar city.
“I walked for seven hours, desperate to find them,” Saaed remembers. “When I did, I felt like I could breathe again.”
John, I wish I could say the hardship ended there. But Saeed’s family lives in a displacement camp now, plagued by hunger, sleepless nights and aching memories of all they’ve lost.
“At home, life had meaning,” the father says sorrowfully. “Here, there is nothing.”
Adnan and his siblings have gone weeks without showering, days without food and months without comfort. Tell Congress: NO child should ever grow up this way.
