Dear John,
A new study published by the Fraser Institute today examines property crime and violent crime rates across 36 Canadian and over 300 United States metropolitan areas.
After decades of decline, recent years have seen increases in crime rates in both Canada and the U.S.
For property crime, the top ranked (worst) city overall was Lethbridge, Alberta, followed by Kelowna, BC – outranking both Las Vegas and Los Angeles!
For violent crime, the top ranked (worst) Canadian city was Winnipeg, Manitoba, which ranked 18th overall.
Canadians are no doubt aware that the rate of crimes are on the rise, but they might not know how bad it has become relative to American cities in the south.
Find out how the remaining Canadian cities fared here [[link removed]], and be sure to share this one on social media.
Sincerely,
Niels Veldhuis
President
