The overt and brazen way that Donald Trump is attacking free speech and the First Amendment rights of all Americans is absolutely unlike anything our nation has ever seen, friend.

He has been retaliating against news organizations that don't conform to his political narratives – revoking the Associated Press' access to events and press briefings and suing CBS News over an interview they did with Kamala Harris during the election.

He and his co-president Elon Musk are pushing Congressional Republicans to remove federal judges who are blocking this administration's unconstitutional and illegal efforts to dismantle our government – attempting to intimidate other judges out of following suit.

He has declared anything related to diversity, equality, and equity "illegal and immoral." His executive orders have removed references to great Americans who served our nation with honor from being acknowledged on government websites or noted in national cemeteries. He and his co-president Elon Musk are literally white-washing our history.

And now, he is targeting law firms – one that investigated whether the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to influence the 2016 election, and another that supported the special counsel who pursued two separate indictments against Trump.

Each and every one of these actions is an attack on free speech and accountability. Many of them are flat-out against the law. And all of them are meant to send a clear message to America: If you act against Donald Trump's wishes, you will be hunted, you will be erased, and you will be punished.

The freedom to speak truth to power is the foundation of our democratic republic. Without it, we are not Americans. It begs the question: Is that exactly what Trump wants?

After all, this is the same man who told his supporters on the campaign trail that they wouldn't ever have to vote again if he won a second term in the White House. This is the same man who has demonstrated a dangerous pattern of cozying up to corrupt, oppressive foreign leaders like Vladimir Putin. This is the same man who vowed to be a dictator on day one of his second term.

Friend, I refuse to sit idly by and let Donald Trump erode the freedom of speech that has defined this nation since its inception – the freedom that truly makes America great. I refuse to let him rule our country like one of the dictators he idolizes so much. I refuse to be silenced. I refuse to be intimidated.

You have my word, today and always, that I will continue to do everything in my power to fight this administration's crusade against free speech. I will never give up. Thank you for supporting this effort.

Sincerely,

Dick
