Dear Neighbors & Friends,

Please join me for a community meeting this Thursday on the City’s proposed Brooklyn Marine Terminal (BMT) transformation project. The NYC Economic Development Corporation (EDC) will present on their proposal, followed by audience Q&A.

You can RSVP here. The event will be held on Thursday, March 20, from 6-7:30 PM, at 125 Summit St. This event is targeted to the Columbia Street Waterfront community, but anyone may attend.

You may have heard that the EDC took control of the BMT from the Port Authority of NY/NJ to modernize the maritime facility and create a mixed-use community asset. EDC is currently conducting a rapid community engagement process to plan for the future of the site. This is a large, complicated project that will impact the working waterfront and the surrounding neighborhoods for a long time, so I hope that you will attend and share your questions, ideas, vision, or concerns.

To learn more about the project, visit EDC’s website.

I am conducting this event In partnership with Council Member Shahana Hanif, Congressman Dan Goldman, & State Senator Andrew Gounardes.

I look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

Sincerely,

Jo Anne Simon
