Welcome to the March edition of the Community Action, Inc. (CAI) newsletter! As we transition into spring, we are excited to share updates on our ongoing efforts to fight poverty in Rock and Walworth counties. This month, we highlight the impactful programs and services that continue to make a difference in our community, from child care and affordable housing to health education and community development. Spreading Awareness for Housing Support

The housing crisis in Rock and Walworth counties is a growing concern, and we need your help to make a difference. At CAI's Twin Oaks Shelter for The Homeless, we are currently facing an overwhelming demand for housing assistance. The need for safe and stable housing is urgent. By spreading awareness, you can help us reach more people and gather the support needed to provide essential services and shelter to those in need.

Bringing Quality Child Care to Beloit

At Community Kids Stepping Stones Academy, we believe that every child deserves a strong foundation for a bright future. For years, our Janesville location has been a beacon of hope and support for families, providing high-quality child care and education that nurtures young minds and fosters lifelong learning. We are excited to announce the expansion of our services to the city of Beloit. This new location will offer the same exceptional care and educational opportunities, ensuring that more children can benefit from our programs. Our Beloit center will cater to children ages 2 weeks to 12 years old, providing a safe and stimulating environment that promotes growth and learning.

Meat Raffle Fundraiser

Event Details: 

📅 Date: Saturday, March 22nd

🕐 Time: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

📍 Location: Boundaries Bar and Grill

Come and enjoy great company and the chance to win some fantastic meat prizes! We will also have raffle baskets and a 50/50 raffle. All proceeds will go towards supporting our child care programs and ensuring a bright future for the children in our community.

Open House

Event Details: 

📅 Date: Thursday, March 20, 2025

⏰ Time: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM

📍 Location: 825 Liberty Avenue, Beloit, WI

We are excited to invite the public to our Community Open House at the newly transformed Next Steps Family Resilience Center and Community Kids Stepping Stones Academy! Thanks to our amazing partnership with Family Services of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois, Inc., we've turned the former Royce Elementary School into something truly special. Join us as we honor the legacy of Royce Elementary and celebrate its exciting new chapter. We can't wait to see you there!

Wino-O-Bingo Fundraiser

Event Details: 

📅 Date: Thursday, April 10th 

🕐 Time: 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

📍 Location: DC Estate Winery

🎟️ Ticket Information:

• Tickets: $12.50 each (includes entry and 1 Bingo card)
• $2.50 materials handling fee to DC Estate Winery
• Additional Bingo cards: $3 each (cash only at event)
• Proceeds benefit Beloit Fresh Start

📅 Event Details:

• 10 games of Bingo
• Doors open: 5pm, Bingo starts: 6pm
• Bring cash for extra Bingo cards (small bills only)

🍽️ Food & Drink:

• Charcuterie boxes, flatbreads, nachos, and pub pretzels available
• Wine flights, wine by the glass/bottle, and wine slushies

• Adults only (21+)
• Event ends at 8pm
