Severe Storms Strike Missouri
Over the weekend, multiple tornadoes in southern Missouri caused significant damage and loss of life. Multiple injuries and a dozen fatalities have been confirmed in the state.
- Please do not self-deploy unless asked. Emergency services, including search and rescue efforts, are still at work in the area. Conference Disaster Response Coordinator (CDRC) Bambi Wheeler has been in touch with local pastors and first responders in Alton, Doniphan, Piedmont, Poplar Bluff, Rolla and West Plains. Assessments and response are underway. We are actively in conversation with county and state disaster response efforts and will post updates on the Missouri Conference Disaster Response Facebook page. If you have questions, please contact CDRC Bambi Wheeler at [email protected].
- Karen Yeomans (Manchester UMC) and Scott Reed (First UMC in Warrensburg) will be taking an early response team to Poplar Bluff later this week. Team members are Early Response Team-certified and Safe Gatherings-certified. If you are Early Response Team-certified and interested in deploying, please contact CDRC Bambi Wheeler at [email protected].
- Be in prayer for those affected in the Southeast District.
- The best way for you and your church to immediately serve is by giving financially. We invite you to give to the Missouri Conference Advance Special (7465) Disaster Response via the Special Advance Form or online portal.
