Recently, King County’s far-left leadership proposed a series of devastating cuts to law enforcement and criminal justice resources. In total, the proposals amount to nearly $70 million in cuts to core law enforcement and criminal justice resources that would slash the number of unincorporated Sheriff’s Deputies in half and could lead to the firing of 90 criminal prosecutors!
I have one question—does this seem right to you?
It sure doesn’t seem right to me. That’s why I recently sent a letter to county leadership urging them to, in addition to removing these cuts altogether, IMMEDIATELY restore $15 million in funding to our most essential criminal justice responsibilities by zeroing out funding for soft-on-crime approaches that are failing our communities.
Just when you thought anti-police extremism in downtown Seattle couldn’t get any more out of control, these proposals directly cut our law enforcement capabilities at a time when they are needed more than ever.
