Today, we couldn't be more excited to announce our endorsement of Isaiah Martin , who is running for Congress in Texas' 18th Congressional District to replace the late Congressman Sylvester Turner.
Isaiah has been a friend of CNL for a few years now, and recently spoke at our 2024 New Liberal Action Summit about the need to elect young, center-left leaders at every level of government. Now, he's running for Congress, with our full support.

For too long, a small but vocal minority on the left has given Republicans an easy way to paint an entire generation as extreme. But the reality is different—most young people aren’t driven by ideology alone. They want leaders who prioritize practical solutions to the real challenges in their daily lives like rising costs, without abandoning the liberal principles that have made America strong.
That's where Isaiah comes in.
Isaiah is a young Democrat who believes that the center-left, New Liberal path is the best path forward for America. A Houston native and University of Houston graduate, he is a solutions-oriented leader dedicated to building a stronger, more inclusive economy.
He believes in pragmatic policies that balance innovation with fairness—empowering businesses while ensuring workers thrive. His vision for Houston includes expanding public transit, fixing infrastructure, and investing in clean energy to position the city as a national leader in economic and environmental resilience.
Isaiah stands for smart, forward-thinking governance—fiscal responsibility paired with bold investments in our future. He believes that Congress needs new leaders who can push back against the narrative that young Democrats are far-left while also advocating for real progress on the issues that matter most.
Congress needs more leaders like Isaiah—leaders who reject the false choice between growth and fairness, and who are committed to making America both more dynamic and more equitable. That’s why we’re proud to stand with him in this race.
