[link removed] [[link removed]] Dear Friend,
As your Attorney General and a candidate for Governor, I’m committed to showing up for all Coloradans, listening to your concerns, and rolling up my sleeves to deliver results. These challenging times for our nation demand that we stand together, especially as the harmful actions coming from Washington continue to impact our communities.
A few weeks ago, I joined an Indivisible Town Hall with over 5,000 participants. This gave me the opportunity to listen to your concerns. At the end of my remarks, I shared this message:
“In the face of the illegal and harmful actions by the Trump Administration, many of us are struggling to find direction and a path forward. My answer is simple–we must all lean in. None of us can face this challenge alone, but each of us can do our part to protect our democratic republic and stand up for what is right. For me as a public servant, this means showing up, listening to you, and taking action.”

Last weekend, I attended another town hall meeting in Lakewood, where well over 1,500 Coloradans packed a high school gymnasium. Many expressed major frustration and deep concern about what’s happening in Washington. Congresswoman Brittany Pettersen and I shared updates on how we’re supporting federal workers who are being mistreated and fired indiscriminately. We also shared how we’re fighting to ensure that critical government services are not undermined by the Trump Administration’s illegal actions.
I remain especially alarmed at the severe consequences of mass federal worker firings. These often indiscriminate actions, for example, threaten the safety of our mountain communities by laying off wildfire response teams and shutting access to our treasured national parks. You can read more about what we discussed in this article. [[link removed]]
Join Me at Upcoming Listening Events
* This afternoon, at 4 pm , I’ll be at another town hall meeting in Denver. I’d love for you to join me if you can. You can learn more here. [[link removed]]
* Looking ahead, on April 16 , I’ll be hosting a community impact meeting for Coloradans with several of my State Attorney General colleagues. We’ll listen to your concerns and share how we’re working to protect our citizens and uphold the rule of law. I hope to see you there (and you can sign up here [[link removed]] ).
Defending the Rule of Law
Defending the rule of law is one of my most important duties as your Attorney General. It pains me to repeatedly go to court to hold our federal government accountable, but it’s important to ensure it follows our Constitution and laws.
Take, for example, a case I recently filed against the federal government for unlawfully terminating a rural teacher pipeline program. [[link removed]] This essential program supports rural school districts across Colorado, providing critical funding to hire much-needed teachers. And the federal government’s decision to terminate this program puts Colorado children and communities at risk.
Like the teachers and community leaders I’ve spoken with in rural Colorado towns, I am deeply frustrated and shocked that our schools are facing such illegal and harmful actions. Thanks to our recent victory in this case, 50 additional teachers are set to be working in our rural schools–and not left in the lurch.
Time and time again, we’ve seen the federal government act unlawfully. In the face of such actions, I won’t stop fighting for what’s right, in our courts (and in the court of public opinion). Town halls and community forums play a key role by amplifying the public’s outrage at and putting a spotlight on illegal and harmful actions.
We must remain vigilant and ensure that the voice of “We the People” is heard. Together, we can preserve our democratic republic, defend the rule of law, and ensure our government remains “of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
Thanks for standing with me to preserve our democratic republic and protect Colorado’s future.
