Hi all,

Shout-out to everyone who made it to our chapter meeting on Saturday -- we had more than 80 people there in person and by Zoom! Together we learned about how to participate in ICE Watch efforts, took action in support of pro-Palestine activists targeted by the Maricopa County Attorney's office, and more.

The Trump administration is becoming more authoritarian by the day. And by and large, the existing Democratic political establishment is refusing to fight back. In a moment like this, it's more important than ever that we stick together, get organized, and create change.

Some key updates and actions for this week:

  • The Tempe Really Really Free Market, which Phoenix DSA has supported for a long time, and which has been operating successfully once a month in the same location for years, was shut down on Sunday by the Tempe police. This is part of a broader crackdown in Tempe on efforts to provide food and support to unhoused people. Helping our neighbors is not a crime! We are insisting on answers from the City Council on why they shut down the Really Really Free Market, and continuing to demand that they do more to prevent evictions and keep people housed in the first place. Stay tuned for more updates very soon.
  • There is another protest to demand the immediate release of Mahmoud Khalil TODAY (Monday) at 4 pm at the AZ State Capitol. Hope to see you there!
  • Bernie Sanders and AOC will be in Tempe this Thursday! RSVP here. We'll attend this event as a group -- if you're planning to be there, join our Signal chat for all the details!

We've got tons of other events coming up, from our weekly book club to our socials to our campaign meetings, so check out our calendar and find something that works for your schedule!

In solidarity,

Phoenix DSA
