Did you know that in the United States, there are over 19,500 municipalities, or towns and cities? Of those tens of thousands of cities, only 27 lucky city councils have a female majority. Of those 27, there are only 5 even luckier all-female city councils. 

One of those lucky cities with a fully-female council is our State’s very own Gulfport, Florida; where last week Ruth’s List-endorsed candidate Marlene Shaw flipped a seat from red-to-blue, the first Florida flip of 2025! 

Wins like Marlene’s take a lot more than just luck. They take time, talent, and treasure from passionate individuals like yourself. 

At Ruth’s List, we envision a Florida in which pro-choice women are equally represented in state and local government, and truthfully, we, like the rest of the country, have a long way to go. Only seven of 50 states in our country have gender-parity in their state legislatures. And that’s why we need fighters like you to help us out.
