Attorneys General Nessel and Mayes Discuss Federal Mass Firings in Latest Episode of Pantsuits and Lawsuits

*LANSING* – In the latest episode of their recently launched podcast [ [link removed] ], "Pantsuits and Lawsuits", Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel and Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes break down the unprecedented mass firings sweeping through federal agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Centers for Disease Control, and the nation's nuclear weapons programs.

With government stability and public safety hanging in the balance, the attorneys general spoke with Max Rose, an Afghanistan war veteran, Senior Advisor for the VetVoice Foundation and former U.S. Congressman, to unpack the real-world consequences of these sweeping layoffs. Rose shares insight into how the mass firings are affecting veterans, government efficiency, and national security.

The episode also explores the mounting legal challenges against the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), examining what’s at stake for Americans who rely on these essential services. Attorneys General Nessel and Mayes led a coalition of 14 states in filing a lawsuit challenging the unlawful delegation of executive power to Elon Musk [ [link removed] ] last month. They also joined a coalition of 20 attorneys general in suing President Donald Trump and numerous federal agencies [ [link removed] ] for conducting illegal mass layoffs of federal probationary employees.

“It was incredibly insightful talking to Max about what it’s like on the ground for federal employees facing this illegal, unprecedented upheaval,” Nessel said. “These mass firings aren’t just bureaucratic shake-ups in Washington, D.C. They are decisions with real consequences, including for our veterans, who are losing access to essential services and being cast aside after dedicating their careers to serving this country.”

New episodes of "Pantsuits and Lawsuits" are released biweekly, to break down complex legal topics in a way that is engaging, informative, and accessible to listeners. With their blend of expertise, humor, and straight talk, the attorneys general explore major legal cases, analyze state and national policy debates – and discuss how attorneys general help shape justice. Through these discussions, listeners will gain a behind-the-scenes look at the work attorneys general do to serve and protect their communities.
