Job Opportunities for Recent CMS Graduates

The City of Charlotte’s Office of Workforce Development is recruiting Charlotte-Mecklenburg School (CMS) graduating students for the Education to Employment (E2E) program. Introduced in 2024, E2E offers recent graduates the opportunity to apply for various entry-level city jobs with full pay and benefits after graduation.

“The city is proud to continue our E2E program and looking forward to welcoming more CMS graduates to join Team Charlotte,” says Special Assistant to the City Manager for Workforce Development Danielle Frazier. “This program is important to increasing economic opportunities for our early graduating talent to gain work experience and increase their skills while exploring their chosen career path within the City of Charlotte.”

This year, students can apply for 14 different jobs within Aviation, Charlotte Area Transit System, Charlotte Department of Transportation, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Water, Department of General Services or Housing & Neighborhood Services.

If selected, students will receive training, full-time pay, benefits, access to continued education resources and career coaching.

Applications to E2E are open March 10-24. To be eligible, CMS students must:
* Have a high school diploma or GED.
* Be 18 years or older by July 11.
* Be able to pass a pre-employment drug test, a criminal background check, and DMV report.
* Complete a six-month probationary period.

Some jobs will have additional requirements.

How to Apply:

Join Creek Week Activities March 22 - 29

Most of you are familiar with the three lakes along Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s western border, but did you know we have more than 50 named creeks that span more than 3,000 miles? These abundant natural resources are gradually becoming more visible as our greenway system expands, but creeks aren’t usually on people’s minds unless there’s a problem. That’s why Charlotte-Mecklenburg Storm Water Services and several partners are celebrating the seventh annual Creek Week ([link removed]) . From Saturday, March 22 through Saturday, March 29, you’re invited to learn how "Creeks Connect Us" through a full calendar of volunteer and educational events.

Storm drains along our streets carry stormwater runoff directly to our creeks and lakes typically without any treatment. Runoff picks up lots of trash, pet waste, oils, sediment and other pollutants that end up in our waterways. Creek Week provides opportunities to learn about and help clean up and protect these often-hidden gems.

This year’s event lineup is more eclectic and exciting than ever, including stream cleanups, a creek meditation, learning to fish in creeks, story time with Stormy for the kiddos, and much more! Make sure to check out our list of events ([link removed]) . There’s something for everyone and all age groups.
