In just a few days, we've seen massive protests take place across the US, including here in Sacramento, in response to George Floyd's murder and police violence. We urge all members to take part in supporting and fighting for Black liberation in the way they are able- whether that's donating, protesting or talking to your family and friends about why we have to abolish the police. We're still asking all members to submit a voicemail or email to city council in support of our recommendations for how the $89 million in covid emergency stimulus funds (CARES Act federal aid) should be spent.

You can submit an auto generated message in support of the letter by clicking HERE and filling out the form.

You can also call the city council voicemail system at (916) 808-5908 and leave a message! You can use the following call script: “I’m calling in to support the recommendations of council member elect, Katie Valenzuela, for the $89 Million in federal stimulus money including direct rent and mortgage payment assistance, infrastructure and support for Safe Ground camping sites, and direct aid to households."

Service Workers Training by CNA, Unite Here! & UC Berkeley

DSA service workers and colleagues are invited to attend a training provided by California Nurses Association, Unite Here!, and the Labor Occupational Health Program at UC Berkeley. Hear from healthcare professionals about how to stay safe as we go back to work. Join front and back of house workers from restaurants, hotels, and casinos in conversation about what we need in order to stay safe.
