Dear John,

We've been working on this for months.

This is what the Government's been missing in its plan for growth - published in this morning's Sunday Times, and shared now with you.

🚨 Report reveals changes to the UK-EU deal could boost GDP by up to 2.2%

In the last few months and weeks, on TV interviews, in the press, and at events with economists, we’ve been told that there isn’t a calculation of how much growth, for the UK economy, a better deal with the EU would deliver.

So we decided to do it.

We asked independent analysts at Frontier Economics to answer the question that everybody is asking: how much of an impact, really, would a better deal with the EU have on the UK economy?

And they answered it. Staying firmly within Keir Starmer's Brexit 'red lines', we wanted to know what would happen if the UK agreed a policy of deep alignment on goods and services with the EU.

The research revealed a boost to UK GDP of up to 2.2%.

We don't have to tell you that this is a big deal. Over ten years, that's clawing back up to half of the economic hit of Brexit to UK GDP (which the OBR said was -4%). In the shorter term, the growth effects are around double the estimated impact of a UK-US Free Trade Agreement. In monetary terms, this kind of growth is close to two years of the much-needed increases to the NHS capital budget.

When Nigel Farage and Kemi Badenoch say we should distance ourselves from the EU and focus on getting a Trump trade deal, they're not only ignoring what Brits actually want. They're surrendering our economic growth on the altar of empty Brexit rhetoric. A Brexit that Badenoch herself admitted her party pursued with no consideration of how to achieve economic growth afterwards.

The proponents of Brexit broke our economy without a plan. This report provides the foundations our country needs for real economic recovery, to put money back in the pockets of ordinary Brits.

In the coming days, we're going to be sharing ways to get this research in front of every MP in the country. But right now, we wanted you to have the first look at what your help, your donations, your support has produced: the first, real figures to back up what we've known all along. That rebuilding ties with the EU is our best route to growth.

We hope you're as excited by this as we are.
