Dear Lowcountry,
Happy Sunday! Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly newsletter. Whether you're from South Carolina or another state, we're so glad to have you! This is the best way to stay up-to-date with our legislative efforts, hearings, meetings and everything else we're doing in the Lowcountry and Washington D.C. Please feel free to share this with your friends, family and neighbors as well! They can subscribe at Mace.House.Gov/Subscribe. We met with several stakeholders in the from our district, took more action to protect women’s privacy and safety, cracked down on government waste, and stoond with President Trump as he signed an executive order defending women’s sports. | Oversight Committee Hearing on USAID | On February 5, we took part in an Oversight Committee hearing titled "Rightsizing the U.S. Government," where we exposed the reckless spending habits of USAID—particularly its funding of transgender advocacy overseas. We called out USAID for handing over $2 million to trans-led organizations in Guatemala for gender-affirming healthcare, questioning why American taxpayers are footing the bill for ideological activism abroad. But this is only the tip of the iceberg. The Left thinks our tax dollars are better spent overseas teaching people to question their gender than helping the 32,000 homeless veterans here at home. You can watch our full line of questioning here or by clicking the photo above. | Re-introducing Three Bills to Protect Women’s Privacy and Safety | We reintroduced three key bills aimed at restoring common sense protections for women in private spaces, shelters, and prisons: Stop the Invasion of Women’s Spaces Act – Bars biological men from using women’s restrooms, locker rooms, and changing areas in all federally funded facilities, including schools, hospitals, public housing, and transit hubs. Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act – Prohibits biological men from accessing women’s facilities in all federal properties, including government buildings, military installations, and national parks. Prison Rape Prevention Act – Prevents male inmates from being housed in women’s correctional facilities and ends taxpayer-funded gender-affirming care for incarcerated individuals. Like President Trump, we believe in protecting women—not erasing them. The Left’s unhinged, sexist tantrums won’t stop us from standing up for women’s privacy, safety, and dignity. We’re holding the line. With biological men exploiting weak policies to gain access to women’s spaces, these bills make sure federal law prioritizes women’s rights and safety over radical gender ideology. You can read our full press release on this trifecta of bills here. You can also read about each of the bills by clicking their titles. | Exposing $10 Million in NIH Waste on Animal Cruelty | This week, as the Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation, we held a hearing titled “Transgender Lab Rats and Poisoned Puppies: Oversight of Taxpayer Funded Animal Cruelty.” The NIH has a proven history of wasting money and harming animals, but you won't believe what we uncovered this time.
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) for wasting $10 million in taxpayer dollars on cruel and unnecessary animal experiments—including testing radical gender therapy drugs on animals. Yes, the NIAID funded an experiment with YOUR tax dollars to put mice on hormone drugs. And yes, it makes us sick, too. Instead of funding research to benefit Americans, our government continues to spend millions on outrageous and inhumane animal studies. | We made it clear: experimenting on animals when more effective alternatives exist is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Animal testing inflicts unnecessary suffering, has major scientific limitations, and fails to reliably predict real-world human outcomes. It’s time to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in federally funded research. This hearing is just the beginning—we are demanding greater transparency and oversight over government-funded research and working to redirect federal spending toward more effective, humane alternatives. | Standing with President Trump to Protect Women’s Sports | We joined President Trump at the White House for the signing of the Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports Executive Order on National Girls & Women in Sports Day. This executive order is a step towards making sure women's sports remain fair and safe for women and girls across the great state of South Carolina and the nation. This executive order restores fairness, upholds Title IX’s original intent, and defends the rights of female athletes. | Here’s why this matters, for too long, the Left has ignored science and betrayed female athletes. Women’s sports exist for a reason—because biological differences matter. No amount of activism, corporate pressure, or political gamesmanship can erase reality. | The Heritage Foundation’s Podcast to Discuss Transgender Issues Facing Parents Across the Nation | Following the historic signing, we joined Tiffany Justice and Billboard Chris at the Heritage Foundation studio to discuss the implications of the day's events. You can watch this discussion to get an in-depth analysis of how our work will positively impact women across the country. We are committed to fighting for women’s privacy, stopping government waste, and ensuring fairness in sports. We will continue to stand up for common sense policies which put women, families, and taxpayers first. Stay tuned for more updates as we push back against radical policies in Washington. Their work not only highlights our region’s incredible food scene but also supports local businesses and sustainable practices. #LowcountryFirst | All aboard for the Charleston Boat Show
| We attended the Charleston Boat Show! The Charleston Boat Show now in its 46th year has evolved into an event which kicks-off the Lowcountry's boating season. We had such a great time getting to talk with our constituents and our shared love for boating in the Lowcountry! Thank you to the SC Boating and Fishing Alliance for putting it together. #LowcountryFirst | Click the images below to read the full headline. | Legislating for the Lowcountry | H.R. 43 – Alaska Native Village Municipal Lands Restoration Act, YES This bill allows unincorporated Alaska Native communities to retain control over their land instead of placing it in trust with the state. It empowers these communities to develop and use their lands for housing, economic growth, and expansion. H.R. 776 – Nutria Eradication and Control Reauthorization Act, YES This bill reauthorizes funding to combat the invasive nutria species, which causes severe damage to wetlands and farmland. The program has already shown success in several states and will now continue through 2030. H.R. 27 – HALT Fentanyl Act, YES This bill permanently classifies fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I drugs, preventing drug traffickers from exploiting legal loopholes. It ensures law enforcement has the necessary tools to combat the deadliest drug crisis in America. H.R. 26 – Protecting American Energy Production Act, YES This bill prevents any President from unilaterally banning fracking without congressional approval. It reinforces federalism by ensuring states retain authority over energy production on their lands. | Thank you once again for taking the time to hear from us and our efforts to make the Lowcountry a better place to live, work, and prosper. We will continue putting the Lowcountry first by securing our borders, getting fentanyl off our streets, protecting women, and exposing the governments wasteful spending. | Rep.
