Email from Rep. Tenney Congresswoman Tenney's Weekly Newsletter   Have questions? Contact Me Here   Governor Hochul and Albany Democrats are Delaying Democracy Other than blatant partisan politics, there is no reason to rewrite the law and intentionally delay the NY-21 special election. Albany Democrats had no issue holding special elections in districts like NY-26 and NY-03 last year. But now, they’re considering delaying the NY-21 special election—purely to serve their far-left agenda. This is nothing more than a shameless attempt by Democrats to undermine the will of the people. The voters of New York’s 21st District deserve immediate representation in Congress, not political games. By postponing this election, Governor Hochul and Albany Democrats are robbing the people of NY-21 of their voice in Washington. As chair of the Election Integrity Caucus, I am exploring all legal options to hold Democrats accountable for this abuse of power. We must ensure Democrats do not rewrite and undermine the law whenever it is convenient for them. Celebrating National Girls and Women in Sports Day at the White House On National Women and Girls' Sports Day, I was honored to attend the signing of President Trump's Executive Order that upholds the vital Title IX protections women fought decades to obtain and ends the participation of biological men in women's sports. During this event, the President was gracious enough to personally recognize my work in defending women's sports. I have supported numerous legislative initiatives to support this cause, including being one of the original cosponsors of the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act, which protected fairness and integrity in women’s sports. We must celebrate the profound impact sports have on young women and our society. I will continue to work to protect women's sports. Leading the Stop Funding Our Adversaries Act Our nation's foreign adversaries do not deserve a dime of our tax dollars. The Stop Funding Our Adversaries Act will end all American taxpayer-funded research in China and the Chinese Communist Party, ensuring we are not funding the technical, military, or economic advancement of our adversaries. From FY 2015 to FY 2021, the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) reported agencies provided $28.9 million directly to Chinese entities for research and development activities. This week, I introduced the Stop Funding Our Adversaries Act to ensure the United States is not funding Chinese research directly or indirectly through federally funded research, grants, or contracts. As a founding member of the DOGE Caucus, I am dedicated to promoting accountability and transparency in our government, and that starts with ensuring we know where every single cent of taxpayer funding is going. READ MORE: Taxpayer funded Chinese research to end under House GOP bill Introducing the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act of 2025 Preventing the impending Medicare reimbursement cuts to physicians is critical to ensuring seniors have access to the high-quality care they deserve. This is why I introduced the Medicare Patient Access and Practice Stabilization Act to support physicians and protect access to care for Medicare beneficiaries. Financial stability for providers isn't just a matter of fairness—it's essential for protecting access to care, particularly in rural and underserved areas like Western New York, where physician shortages have been a persistent challenge. The rising cost of delivering care, coupled with increasing administrative burdens, makes it clear that Medicare payment policies must evolve to reflect the true costs faced by physicians. As your representative in Congress, my top priority is championing legislative initiatives that benefit you and your families. Each week, I review numerous bills and letters, engaging in thorough discussions with members of our community to determine which actions to support and address your needs. Below are a few bills I recently cosponsored. H.R. 1089, the BOWSER Act – This bill would repeal DC Home Rule and restore Congressional control over the District of Columbia. Under Mayor Muriel Bowser’s reign of terror, DC has been transformed into a city riddled with crime, drugs, and homelessness. All Americans should feel not only welcome in our Nation’s capital, but safe, and Mayor Bowser and the DC government has proven unable and unwilling to maintain DC as a safe place. As such, I support repealing DC Home Rule and allowing Congress to govern our Nation’s capital to ensure that all Americans, especially NY-24 residents, are kept safe upon visiting DC. H.R. 1026, the Primary Care Enhancement Act - This bill removes barriers for individuals with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) from using those funds to access Direct Primary Care (DPC). DPC is an innovative, patient-centered subscription model that lowers costs, improves access to quality care, and empowers patients to choose their primary care provider. DPC has become an increasingly popular option for families and individuals across Western New York because it strengthens doctor-patient relationship and cuts through bureaucratic red tape. The bipartisan Primary Care Enhancement Act removes outdated tax barriers, ensuring that patients with Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) can take full advantage of this innovative approach to care. H.R.24, Federal Reserve Transparency Act - this bill requires the Federal Reserve to undergo an audit performed by the Government Accountability Office (GAO). Specifically, this audit will investigate the Federal Reserve’s international financial transactions; deliberations, decisions, or actions on monetary policy matters; transactions made under the direction of the Federal Open Market Committee; and discussions or communications among Federal Reserve officers, board members, and employees regarding any of these matters. It is long overdue that the American people receive transparency on how the Federal Reserve operates. Transparency in Congress and a well-informed electorate are vital to preserving our self-governing Constitutional Republic. My constituents deserve to know how their members of Congress vote, which is why I have explained every vote I have cast in Congress since I was first elected. To read more about my votes and see the full list with explanations of all the legislation considered this week by the House, please click here. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 21, the HALT Fentanyl Act. Our families and communities have been ravaged by fentanyl, and it has contributed to making overdose the leading cause of death among American adults aged 18-45. In 2024 alone, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) seized enough fentanyl to kill every American multiple times. In response, the Trump administration has begun holding Canada, Mexico, and China accountable for failing to stop the influx of fentanyl into the United States. This legislation would permanently make fentanyl a Schedule I drug, giving law enforcement the tools they need to combat the spread of these deadly drugs in our communities and discourage the production of new and more potent fentanyl-related substances. In Congress, I will always fight to protect our communities and our most vulnerable from these destructive substances. This bill passed the House by a bipartisan vote of 312-108. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 26, the Protecting American Energy Production Act. This critical piece of legislation prevents any future president from unilaterally banning hydraulic fracturing (fracking). Fracking has unlocked vast reserves of American energy and is a key element to unleashing America’s energy independence and economy. Under current law, each State has primary regulatory authority over oil and natural gas production, including the use of fracking. Radical climate alarmists at the federal level have routinely tried to take away states' rights to regulate their own energy economies, and this bill ensures that this authority will not be taken away from them in the future. This bill passed by a vote of 226-188. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 43, the Alaska Native Village Municipal Lands Restoration Act. This bill removes the requirement that Alaska Native village corporations must convey lands to Alaska to be held in trust for future municipal governments. The Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act (ANCSA) requires all Alaska Native village corporations that receive land under the ANCSA to convey certain lands to the existing municipality in the village or, if no municipality exists, to Alaska in trust for any municipality that may be established in the future. This bill passed by a vote of 412-1. I voted “Yes” on H.R. 776, the Nutria Eradication and Control Reauthorization Act. This bill reauthorizes appropriations under the Nutria Eradication and Control Act at the existing authorization level. According to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, “originally from South America, nutria are large aquatic rodents that cause extensive damage to wetlands, agricultural lands, and water infrastructure.” Their burrowing and feeding habits destroy native vegetation, erode riverbanks, and undermine levees and other flood control structures, damaging wildlife habitats and leading to increased flooding risks and costly repairs. Reauthorizing this legislation will help eradicate Nutria and restore balance to our ecosystems. This bill passed by a vote of 361-56. Advocating to Establish Fort Ontario as a National Monument We must ensure that the historic importance of Fort Ontario is properly honored and preserved for future generations. Once an important site in the battles of the French and Indian War and the War of 1812, as well as a refugee camp for Holocaust survivors, it is crucial that we secure the recognition this significant historic site truly deserves. This week, I reintroduced the Fort Ontario Holocaust Refugee Shelter National Historical Park Establishment Act to safeguard this monument's profound legacy for years to come and solidify its status as a National Monument.
