Friend, in the great state of New York and across our country, immigrants make up a vital part of our communities. 

They are our neighbors, our colleagues, our friends, and family. They power our economy, strengthen our culture, and contribute to the future of this state in countless ways. 

And yet, our immigrant communities are facing an onslaught of cruel, politically motivated attacks – threats of mass deportations, efforts to strip away their dignity, and attempts to push our state into enforcing unjust federal policies. 

Let me be clear: I will not stand idly by while immigrant families are torn apart for no reason.

I will not allow our Constitution to be undermined by fearmongering and political theater.

And I will never let New York be bullied into breaking the law to fulfill some hate-filled promise. 

When it comes to violations of the U.S. Constitution, the Constitution of the state of New York, or the rights of vulnerable and marginalized populations – including the immigrant community – I will not hesitate to take action.

So to any New Yorker who is an immigrant or is close to the immigrant community, I promise you this: In the face of injustice and bigotry, I will continue to stand with the immigrants of New York and beyond – because defending their rights is defending the future of our state and the future of our nation as a whole.
 
But it's your grassroots support that enables me to continue these critical fights to defend immigrants and our very Constitution.
