Notes from the Office of Speaker Mike Johnson

Hello, friends! Thank you for subscribing to the Office of Speaker Johnson's newsletter highlighting what's happening on Capitol Hill and in Louisiana's 4th Congressional District.

IN THE HOUSE

On Thursday, Speaker Johnson joined President Trump, congressional members from both sides of the aisle, and distinguished guests at the 73rd National Prayer Breakfast in the U.S. Capitol’s Statuary Hall. Speaker Johnson read the Beatitudes from Matthew 5: 1-10, and President Trump reaffirmed that we are one nation under God. Click below for more.

On Thursday, Congress passed the HALT Fentanyl Act to combat the fentanyl crisis and save American lives. This bill permanently classifies fentanyl-related substances as Schedule I, giving law enforcement the tools needed to halt this epidemic. Four years of Biden's open border policies have exacerbated the fentanyl crisis, which kills over 200 Americans every day. Speaker Johnson remarked on House Republicans delivering on their America First promises, "...Republicans are taking decisive, strong, and immediate action to keep these dangerous drugs out of our communities."

From liquified natural gas (LNG) export pauses to offshore drilling bans, the past four years have been a constant, unjustifiable attack on the American energy industry. Speaker Johnson and House Republicans are working to restore our energy dominance and stop the assault on American energy by passing H.R. 26The Protecting American Energy Production Act. "This bill ensures fracking will remain an essential tool in our nation’s energy production, allowing us to harness regions like the Permian Basin rather than turning to foreign adversaries for our energy needs and helping to fully unleash America’s energy potential," Speaker Johnson said.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK
