Hi team!
If you’re anything like me, today is a day for serious snacking, top-tier commercials, and yelling at the TV (The Big Game brings out the best in all of us, right?).
While we also look ahead to the halftime show, we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that we're halfway through the decade — and we’ve already seen multiple mid-decade map redraws. Traditionally, redistricting would happen once every 10 years after the census.
But now, there is no “halftime” in redistricting; no breaks. We have to play all the way through the decade to the next cycle. But just because the cards are stacked against us doesn’t mean we’ll back down without a fight.
We’re facing more map-making battles (including Ohio this year!) and defending the 2030 Census from being undermined by the Trump administration. And on top of that, our affiliate is in court advocating for fair representation in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida.
Tackling gerrymandering year after year requires a strong, well-resourced team.
Will you rush a $21.50 donation right away to help make the promise of democracy real for every American? That’s half the estimated amount the average fan is expected to spend on food and drinks for this year’s game. And 100% of every contribution brings voters closer to having fair maps and fair representation. → [link removed]
