Freed Hostages of Hamas Appear Gaunt, Frail; Learn Hamas Murdered Family Members During October 7 Attack

Times of Israel: Three hostages abducted during the October 7, 2023, attack were released by Hamas on Saturday, with the men looking gaunt and unsteady on their feet as they were released by the terror group, 16 months after they were kidnapped from Kibbutz Be’eri and the Nova music festival. Eli Sharabi, 52, Or Levy, 34, and Ohad Ben Ami, 56, all appeared extremely thin and frail, and while they were able to walk, seemed to be unsteady on their feet. Sharabi and Levy were coming home to a tragic new reality — Sharabi’s wife and two teenage daughters were murdered on October 7, and Levy’s wife was also killed that day. Sharabi did not know that his wife and daughters had been killed. His mother and sister, who reunited with him on his arrival back in Israel, told him the terrible news, having prepared ahead of time for how to break it to him, the report says (Times of Israel). Reporter Nadav Eyal: Eli Sharabi was released this morning as part of the hostage deal. This is how he looks after enduring captivity under Hamas. Dozens of Israelis remain in captivity (X).

Trump Administration Creates Task Force to Prosecute Those Who Participated in the October 7 Attacks
Jerusalem Post: A task force devoted to the prosecution of October 7 Massacre perpetrators and supporters was established by the United States of America Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday, according to a memorandum issued by Attorney General Pam Bondi. The Joint Task Force October 7 (JTF 10-7) will pursue criminal charges, including for capital crimes, against the perpetrators of the Hamas-led pogrom that murdered 47 US citizens and abducted eight American nationals among over 1,200 slain and 251 hostages. Bondi’s initiative will seek the arrest and extradition of Hamas National Relations Department head Ali Baraka and Acting political bureau chair Khaled Mashal… The memorandum also said that investigations will include inquiries into the United Nations Reliefs and Works Agency (UNRWA) (Jerusalem Post). Raylan Givens: The DOJ is establishing a Joint Task Force to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of the 10/7 attack, including the antisemitic acts in the US after 10/7 (X).

Since October 7 Attacks on Israel, Biden Gave $2.1 Billion to Palestine Via USAID
This is from a press release from November 15, 2024. U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is providing $230 million in additional funding to support economic recovery and development programs in the West Bank and Gaza. This significant investment highlights USAID’s commitment to improving the lives of individuals and communities in the region amidst challenging conditions. Since 2021, USAID/West Bank and Gaza has invested over $600 million in economic support funding of the Palestinian people, in addition to the over $2.1 billion in humanitarian assistance since October 7, 2023 (state.gov). Raylan Givens: CRAZY!!!—$2.1 billion was paid to Gaza as “humanitarian aid” since October 7, 2023; guess by who… Yes, USAID, while Biden was halting arms from Israel, he was funding Hamas (X).

Director of Government Affairs for CAIR Calls for Hama to Kill All Jews
New York Post: The “hateful bigot” who was caught on camera accosting a Jewish man and going on an antisemitic rant inside of a Midtown office building has been hit with a hate crime, police said. Noora Shalash, of Lexington, Kentucky, has been charged with aggravated harassment, a second-degree hate crime, for the ugly incident at 950 Third Ave., during which she yelled profanity-laced, antisemitic remarks at a Jewish man – and even hit him several times, according to cops and video…“F–k the Jews, I love Jesus…I demand Jihad! I want ISIS to kill all of you! I am conspiring with Hamas, Palestinian Jihad and with ISIS, I am conspiring with them!” Shalash says in the clip (New York Post). Libs of TikTok: Noora Shalash, Director of Government Affairs for CAIR – Kentucky broke out into an aggressive antisemitic tirade demanding “Jihad” and calling on ISIS to kill all Jews. She seems totally normal and stable (X).

Congress Passes Bill Barring Presidents from Banning Hydraulic Fracking
Just the News: A bill preventing future presidents from unilaterally banning hydraulic fracking is on its way to the Senate after passing the House 226-188 Friday. Sixteen Democrats joined all Republicans in voting for the Protecting American Energy Production Act, which will block future bans on hydraulic fracking without congressional approval, if enacted. Former president Joe Biden enacted several regulations against oil drilling and restricted liquified natural gas (LNG) exports during his term, prompting several lawsuits. On his first day in office, President Donald Trump declared a national energy emergency and called for the “unleashing” of American energy (Just the News).Rep. August Pfluger: When President Biden took office, his administration took a ‘whole of government’ approach to wage war on American energy production, pandering to woke environmental extremists and crippling this thriving industry. My legislation that passed today is a necessary first step in reversing Biden’s war on energy by preventing the federal government from banning the use of hydraulic fracturing. House Republicans are working to END the war on American energy (X)!

Montana Ends Protections for Physician-Assisted Suicide
Daily Montanan: Currently, physician-assisted aid in dying in Montana occupies a legal gray area. A 2009 Montana Supreme Court ruling said a physician can raise a defense in a homicide case, saying that a patient consented and sought out the drugs, but the high court said it was ultimately up to the Legislature to make the final decision on the legality of physician assistance in suicide. On Friday, the Montana Senate passed Senate Bill 136, which would disallow patient consent as a defense to physician-assisted aid in dying, effectively giving physicians no legal protection if they participated in administering drugs that would end a terminally ill patient’s life. The measure passed 29-20, with all Democrats voting against the measure. Three Republicans joined the Democrats (Daily Montanan). National Review: Assisted-suicide activists frequently redefine terms and obfuscate crucial distinctions, such as conflating death after life support is withdrawn or dying as an unintended side effect of pain control or other treatments as equivalent to suicide. That isn’t true, of course, but it causes confusion. If this bill becomes law, they won’t be able to do that and claim the mantle of intellectual honesty (National Review).

ACLU Sues Trump Over EO Stating There Are Only Two Genders
CBS: A group of transgender people sued in U.S. District Court in Boston over an order that led to the halting of allowing gender markers to be changed on passports and barring the use of the “X” marker used by many nonbinary people. The plaintiffs, represented by the ACLU, say the abrupt policy change last month did not comply with a requirement for a 60-day notice and comment period — and that it discriminates based on sex and, in some cases, transgender status. The order in question was one that Trump signed his first day back in office that said the government would recognize only people’s sex and not their gender — and defined sex as unchangeable (CBS).

Majority of Americans Believe Trump Kept Campaign Promises; Would Like Him to Address Inflation
Just the News: The results of a new CBS News poll released on Saturday show that 70% of voters think President Trump is keeping his campaign promises and the president has a 53% approval rating. According to the results, 59% of voters approve of his deportation operation and 64% support his decision to send U.S. troops to the U.S. Mexico border (Just the News). CBS: But one key issue looms: Most Americans (66%) say the administration isn’t focused enough on lowering prices. Inflation was a key reason Mr. Trump won the election (CBS).

Former Anheuser-Busch Executive States Bud Light Has Not Recovered from Dylan Mulvaney Controversy
Fox News: Bud Light has not yet recuperated from the Dylan Mulvaney controversy, according to a former Anheuser-Busch executive. “They haven’t at all recovered,” former Anheuser-Busch President of Operations Anson Frericks said Tuesday during an interview on FOX Business’ “Varney & Co.”  Despite companies backing away from pushing politics through DEI and ESG policies, the damage to Bud Light is still taking its toll as “they continue to shed customers,” Frericks said.  The beer brand stumbled into controversy in 2023 following a partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney. The tag team with the influencer sparked outrage from consumers, resulting in a drop in sales, customers and shareholder value. The company also saw itself being surpassed in sales by Michelob Ultra and Modelo Especial. Bud Light sales were down 29.9% year-over-year for the week ending Jan. 20, compared with the same period last year (Fox News). PJ Media: AB InBev didn’t cave to wokeness only because of left-wing politics. Wall Street has been infected with wokeness, and many of the big institutional investors insist on DEI goals in companies they invest in. The Mulvaney debacle was not a shot out of the blue. It was the end result of years of policies that favored non-business goals over common sense and profits.  DEI hasn’t gone away. It’s simply gone underground, been rebranded, renamed, and refashioned into something more palatable and less noticeable (PJ Media).

DOGE Terminates $160,000 Contract for Dr. Fauci Museum Exhibit
HotAir: As DOGE rampages through the federal budget in the most glorious way possible, they keep finding the most egregious spending. The worst spending tends to be the anodyne-sounding programs that are sold to make our lives “better,” but the funniest and often most infuriating are the smaller and more ridiculous things like transgender comic books and operas. This spending item stands out for another reason: it celebrates Anthony Fauci as a American hero and not the evil villain that he is (HotAir). DOGE: In the past 48 hours, HHS canceled 62 contracts worth $182 million. These contracts were entirely for administrative expenses – none touched any healthcare programs. This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH Museum (X).
