Conservative SpotlightMIKE LEE — Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) reintroduced the No CBDC Act to prevent the Federal Reserve from reshaping the U.S. financial sector and having the ability to monitor consumer transactions through a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). President Donald Trump recently banned federal agencies from creating a CBDC through an executive order. This legislation would enshrine the ban in law. RAND PAUL — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) reintroduced the Regulations from the Executive in Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, which would require that federal regulations with an economic impact of $100 million or more be subject to an up-or-down vote in Congress, reclaiming legislative power from the regulatory state. JOSH HAWLEY — Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) secured the commitment of Kash Patel to end the Biden-era FBI attacks on Christians and parents. During his confirmation hearing, Patel assured Hawley that he would “[F]ully utilize, if confirmed, the investigative powers of the FBI to give you the information you require and also to hold those accountable who violated the sacred trust placed upon the FBI.” RON JOHNSON — Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI), chairman of the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, sent a letter to mobile carriers seeking answers about the FBI’s use of cellular data in the investigation into the pipe bombs that were discovered on Jan. 6, 2021, in Washington, D.C. The letter noted that according to a former FBI official who led the investigation, some of the cellular data that the FBI relied on during its investigation was corrupted, potentially frustrating law enforcement’s efforts to locate those responsible for planting the pipe bombs.
