JD Vance says federal judges "aren’t allowed" to control president
Donald Trump's faithful lapdog took to nüTwitter over the weekend and ominously declared that the MAGA cult leader can simply defy federal judicial orders he does not agree with, claiming that the courts "aren’t allowed" to limit the White House’s "legitimate power." Vance's post triggered instant controversy and immediate pushback from lawmakers and constitutional law experts alike. "JD, we both went to law school," Democratic Sen. Adam Schiff wrote on Twitter. "But we don't have to be lawyers to know that ignoring court decisions we don't like puts us on a dangerous path to lawlessness. We just have to swear an oath the constitution. And mean it." Liza Goitein, co-director of the Liberty and National Security Program at the Brennan Center for Justice, took things a step further, stating that "the battle lines for our democracy have been drawn." Funnily enough, Vance had no complaints when the courts struck down a laundry list of President Biden's orders, like student loan forgiveness, a $15 minimum wage for federal contractors, and caps on credit card late fees — you know, things that would actually have helped people.
Take Action: Stop Elon Musk's illegal takeover of the government!

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump official crashes and burns on air over Elon Musk
Department of Homeland Security Sec. Kristi Noem served up one helluva word salad trying to justify Elon Musk and his DOGE tech tykes' intrusion into all aspects of our private information. Noem, who IS the government, declared that people don't trust the government, and that that's why it's important that Elon, who is NOT the government, invasively comb through our sensitive private data, which will somehow make the government govern better. Or something. Noem's stumbles prove one thing, though: Republicans really only now how to whine from the minority. Once in charge, their victim cards don't carry quite the same punch, but they sure don't mind playing them all the same.

Trump and Elon take an axe to Biden's climate wins
350.org In his first hours back in office, President Trump ordered a series of actions that abandon U.S. climate leadership at home and abroad. He withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement, pushed to greatly expand fossil fuel production, and attacked clean energy. Now our communities that have long fought relentlessly for clean air, safe drinking water, and protection from toxic chemicals are bracing for yet another onslaught on public health and environmental safeguards. 350.org is leading the fight to keep our communities safe and stop the Trump admin from undoing everything we've accomplished in the past four years. Will you chip in to help 350.org stand up to Trump and his polluter cronies?
Trump to announce 25% aluminum and steel tariffs as China’s levies against US come into effect
The MAGA cult leader has said he will announce new 25% tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports into the US on Monday that would affect "everybody," including its largest trading partners Canada and Mexico, in another major escalation of his nascent trade war. Trump's latest move came as China’s first round of retaliatory tariffs, announced last week, came into effect. Anyone with even a few functioning brain cells can see where this is going — higher prices for everyone. Dunno how many times this needs repeating, but tariffs 👏 are 👏 taxes. And rest assured, consumers will be stuck with the bill.

Musk calls to impeach judge whose order blocks DOGE from Treasury systems access
Unelected White House wrecking ball and famed ketamine popper Elon Musk has called for Republicans to impeach a federal judge in New York over an order that temporarily restricts the world's richest man-toddler and his "DOGE" team from accessing US Department of the Treasury payment systems and sensitive data. Musk took to nüTwitter over the weekend to voice his outrage, calling Judge Paul Engelmayer "a corrupt judge protecting corruption." Engelmayer, an Obama appointee, issued an order temporarily blocking DOGE from accessing federal payment systems on Saturday in response to a complaint brought by 19 states’ attorneys general against Trump, the Treasury, and its newly appointed secretary, Scott Bessent.

BTC leads collective of progressive creators with plan to take back the internet from Joe Rogan and the right-wing machine

Church of England bans non-alcoholic wine and gluten-free bread from Holy Communion
Celiacs, tea-totalers, and recovering alcoholics literally be damned, the Church of England has spoken. If you want to partake in the sacrament of Holy Communion and be one with the body and blood of Christ, you gotta be down with a little gluten and alcohol. Sorry, no substitutions. Chef's orders.
Senate Democrat threatens government shutdown over Trump's "so clearly illegal" actions to "dismantle the government"
Sen. Andy Kim of New Jersey made it clear that he was willing to use the only real leverage that Democrats have — the federal budget — in order to rein in the rampant lawlessness and extremism of Elon Musk and his pack of libertarian children. "For us to be able to support government funding in that way only for them to turn it around to dismantle the government, that is not something that should be allowed," said Kim. No, it shouldn't. Why should Democrats fund the government if there's no guarantee the money will actually get spent?
Trump enrages MAGA evangelicals by naming "heretic" pastor to White House
Donald Trump angered some of his Christian supporters on Friday when he named televangelist and megachurch preacher Paula White-Cain to lead his newly created White House Faith Office. White-Cain, an outspoken proponent of "prosperity theology," which curiously teaches that God actually rewards the truly faithful with material wealth and personal success, has been dubbed a heretic by some particularly vocal evangelicals. They warn that by blaming financial woes on a lack of faith, prosperity theology can be used to exploit vulnerable churchgoers. Others still seem more bothered by her multiple marriages and the fact that she's a woman in the first place. Conservative commentator Jon Root, who typically posts in support of Trump, wrote, "This is the worst decision President Trump has made since taking office… Paula White is a heretic, who pedals the prosperity gospel. Plus, women should not be pastors according to The Bible." Wow. What a coalition.
