Bowdoin. Late last week at Bowdoin College, Students for Justice in Palestine

began an anti-Israel encampment inside the school’s Smith Union, which had not yet ended this morning as of the
[link removed]
latest reports. The anti-Israel protesters cited BDS concerns and they condemned President Trump’s comments on U.S. “ownership” of Gaza. Protesters set up tents, chanted and refused to leave despite

warnings from the school’s representatives that the demonstration is in violation of its policies, and students could face disciplinary action. College officials emphasized the need for order, saying "it is crucial that we maintain an environment that supports equal access to college facilities and operations for everyone."

Georgetown. A Georgetown University Law School chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine
[link removed]
had planned an event for this Tuesday, hosting Ribhi Karajah, a former member of the U.S.-designated terrorist group Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), who served time in an Israeli prison for failing to report knowledge of a deadly 2019 bombing that killed a 17-year-old Israeli who was on a family hike. The event sparked concern among Jewish students, with some arguing that Karajah’s presence would pose a security threat and reflect ongoing antisemitism on campus.

ADL has been monitoring the situation, and as of this morning; the SJP organizers are indicating that the event is cancelled, citing weather concerns.

UConn. The student government senate at the University of Connecticut will be
[link removed]
reworking a proposed referendum for UConn students that centers on anti-Israel BDS sentiments. The committee assigned to rework the language will include representatives of groups ranging from SJP and the UConn Muslim Students Association to Hillel and Huskies for Israel, so the discussions should be lively to say the least. During the senate vote on creating this committee, Sadaf Zarei, a senator who grew up in Iran, expressed her concern about the BDS referendum, saying that the current wording “seeks conformity. It does not encourage dialogue. It demands submission. It is not an argument; it is an ultimatum.”

UCF. The University of Central Florida has

suspended the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity chapter amid allegations of antisemitic hazing. The incident, which reportedly took place in early 2023, involved a student being blindfolded and forced to hold a swastika. UCF began its investigation last fall after receiving an anonymous tip. The fraternity’s national body says it is working with UCF to determine the facts and appropriate response. Hillel Central Florida condemned the incident, emphasizing that "there is no room at UCF for this kind of antisemitism or hate" and praised the administration’s swift response. ADL supports the Hillel reaction and the university’s investigation.

TAKE ACTION: From elementary schools to college quads, Jewish students are confronted by hate. Teaching the next generation about the Holocaust helps address antisemitism. Tell Congress to improve Holocaust education by voting for the HEAL Act.

Leeds, UK. Yellow ribbons
[link removed]
have appeared across the University of Leeds campus as part of a national campaign to raise awareness about hostages still held in Gaza since the 10/7 Hamas terrorist attack. The initiative aims to emphasize the humanitarian nature of the crisis rather than a specifically Jewish or pro-Israel stance. Student leaders expressed that the ribbons serve as a constant reminder of the hostages' plight, and that each hostage with “family, friends, dreams and aspirations just like ours, is still being held captive in Gaza.” The campaign has been noted for its non-disruptive approach, with participants emphasizing a commitment to campus unity while advocating for the hostages' freedom.

McGill. Windows at five McGill University buildings were

shattered Wednesday night and the words "Free Palestine" were written on the iconic entryway Roddick Gates. The vandalism was caused by a group of about 40 people who disrupted classes and exams, causing damage and panic, according to a university statement. Police received multiple 911 calls around 8:20 p.m., but the suspects fled before officers arrived. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage. McGill condemned the vandalism as an attempt to

"intimidate our campus community and bully us into changing" our stance against adopting BDS policies targeting Israel.

Leadership in Action. Emmy Kahan is a junior at Columbia University and recently visited Israel and the UAE as part of the

Geller International Fellowship, a six-month program run by the Israel on Campus Coalition, which brings Jewish and non-Jewish students together to strengthen how they combat antisemitism and advocate for Israel. Kahan, who has faced hostility for her Jewish identity at Columbia, found the trip empowering, specifically meeting 10/7 survivors and exploring the impact of the Abraham Accords. Fellows engaged with political figures and Jewish communities, gaining insights into peace efforts.

A Touch of Gray. At the University of Pittsburgh, the new
[link removed]
Inside Israel program hosted by Pitt’s Hillel Center is having challenging conversations, rejecting black and white assumptions and instead finding nuance in the gray areas in between different viewpoints. As Asher Goodwin, a Pitt senior who helped develop this program explained, people are looking for an “outlet where students could hash it out a little bit more.” While most of the students are Jewish, they come from a range of political backgrounds and they start with different levels of familiarity with Israel as they dig into the podcasts, news reports and opinion pieces that are part of the Inside Israel content list.

Defending Israel. What once was an anomaly is now becoming more prevalent among Yeshiva high schools in the U.S., with many graduating classes having at least one teen planning to make aliyah and join the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF). Commonly referred to as
[link removed]
‘lone soldiers’, they are highly regarded by their peers, commanders and Israeli society. Post-10/7, the number of teens enlisting in the IDF as lone soldiers has risen significantly, with 25% of the 3,500 current lone soldiers coming from the U.S. Nefesh B’Nefesh supports these soldiers through their integration challenges, including language barriers and adapting to Israeli military culture.

From Farms to Frontlines. This winter, 30 students joined Jewish National Fund-USA’s

alternative break trip to southern Israel, offering crucial support to families affected by the 10/7 attacks. The students worked on farms to prevent food shortages, brought joy to youth centers and raised $23,000 for trauma recovery. Aaron Drasnin, a Case Western University student, reflected on the experience: “I feel a connection now not just to the people of Israel, but the land as well.” Participants also visited attack sites and met survivors, gaining a deeper understanding of Israeli resilience.
