John,
COURIER has been all over Trump’s efforts to intimidate and silence the media through fear tactics and bogus lawsuits.
Last week, we told you that CBS News was on the verge of caving to Trump’s $10 billion lawsuit simply because he didn’t like a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris. Now, he’s doubling it to $20 billion—absurdly claiming that CBS cost him financial losses by diverting traffic from his Truth Social platform.
John, this isn’t about journalism. It’s about intimidation. If CBS caves to Trump’s threats, as reports suggest, it will set a dangerous precedent.
Fearless and factual, with legends like Mike Wallace and Walter Cronkite at the helm, CBS News once set the gold standard for American journalism.
Now, CBS is on the verge of joining a growing, shameful club—the list of corporate media institutions bowing to Trump’s lawsuits and authoritarian tactics to silence the free press.
According to reports, CBS News is preparing to settle Trump’s latest attack on the press—a $10 billion lawsuit over a 60 Minutes interview with Kamala Harris.
Trump claims CBS deceptively edited the interview to favor Harris—a blatant lie. The full, unedited footage, available online, proves CBS did not alter her statements or misrepresent her words in any way.

This lawsuit is as absurd as Trump’s case against The Des Moines Register, where he sued over a bad poll that showed him losing Iowa, and ABC News, which settled a dubious $15 million defamation claim over an offhand remark by George Stephanopoulos.
Yet still, CBS is poised to cave—not because the lawsuit has merit, but because its parent company, Paramount Global, is desperate to push through a merger with Skydance Media. They fear Trump’s FCC will block the deal if they don’t play nice.
If CBS really folds, it will send a chilling message: Trump’s intimidation tactics are working.
If major news outlets won’t stand up to Trump, we will. COURIER exists to counter his lies, expose his corruption, and deliver fearless, fact-based journalism where it’s needed most. Unlike CBS News, we don’t answer to billionaires or corporate executives—we answer to the truth.
