John, new reporting from the AJC states that Brian Kemp has once again refused to take part in a federal program providing summer meals for Georgia’s students.

I’m disturbed by his decision to once again put politics over people. Feeding children should be a bipartisan effort, but instead of taking advantage of available resources he’s putting vulnerable families at risk.

Georgia deserves better. I got into politics after my son Jordan was shot because of a promise to fight for our children and families. That’s why I do this job every day, and it’s why I’ll continue speaking out against irresponsible decision-making from Brian Kemp and other Republicans.

DONATEWhile Brian Kemp claims that Georgia has its own programs that are successful, he’s blatantly misleading the public. One third of counties don’t have sites under the existing programs. Not taking advantage of these federal dollars is a huge miss.
