Hi – I’m Lily, J Street’s Deputy Director of Government Affairs.
Last week, my colleague Hannah read you in on a letter circulating in Congress demanding President Trump retract his statement that the US “take over” Gaza – which would forcibly remove millions of already war-weary Palestinians from their land. He’s since doubled down and said that Palestinians “wouldn’t be allowed back in Gaza” under his plan.
His bluster also threatens the incredibly fragile ceasefire and hostage release agreement that’s currently reuniting families and stopping further devastating violence. Hamas negotiators have already called it out as an excuse not to cooperate in negotiations toward the deal's next phases.
To be clear: His proposal is outrageous, morally indefensible, and a complete nonstarter.
I’m reaching out today because the best way to channel our disgust and anger at Trump’s ridiculous suggestion is by creating public pressure, and we need our community to step up and help us do so.

Each signature helps us send an important message to Israel, Palestinians, and Arab countries: This policy lacks broad bipartisan support and will never become a reality. There are lots of representatives in Washington willing to stand up for the rights of vulnerable communities that President Trump is threatening.
