ZOA President Morton A. Klein released the following statements:

Hamas Indefinitely Suspending Hostage Release: Deeply Concerning, Highly Suspicious

“Hamas’s proclamation that it is indefinitely suspending releasing Israeli hostages, in violation of the hostages-for-terrorists deal, is deeply concerning, and highly suspicious that at a pivotal time in the proposed deal, Hamas’s excuses may be more tied to the condition of the remaining hostages or worse — that the remaining hostages are, G-d forbid, either dead or near-death.

“The fact that Ohad Ben Ami, Eli Sharabi and Or Levy were emaciated and were brutally tortured and starved indicates that Hamas has tortured and starved all or almost all of their prisoners, much like the Nazis did, and may, G-D forbid, indicate that the terror group no longer has healthy or even living hostages remaining.



“This latest charade must remind Israel and the world of the continued threat posed by Hamas and their Arab allies and clearly Israel must now continue the battle to destroy the rest of Hamas.”

Palestinian Authority Ruse of Ending "Pay-to-Slay"

“Do not be fooled by Monday’s charade out of Ramallah, where Palestinian Authority Leader Mahmoud Abbas signed legislation ending the PA’s longstanding policy of supporting and incentivizing terrorists with lifetime pensions to murder Jews. This legislation is a farce intended to catch headlines and signal pragmatism while the very same murderers and their families will now receive the same funds from the National Palestinian Economic Empowerment Institution instead of the PA’s Ministry of Social Development.

“The PA has already clarified that the same recipients of the aptly nicknamed $400 million per year ‘Pay-to-Slay’ program will receive their funds automatically through the new program.

“Only last week top Palestinian Arab officials stated that even if they have only one cent left, it will be given to the ‘martyrs’ who have murdered Jews. This alleged major policy change in one week is simply not credible.

“This is the latest charade by the Palestinian Authority terrorist regime who still names schools, streets and sports teams after Jew-killers and promotes hatred and violence against Jews in their schools, textbooks, mosques, media and speeches.



“Don’t be fooled. The PA continues to incentivize Arab terrorism and hatred against Jews.”
