John,
Like many of you, we are navigating the challenges of the second Trump administration. At AYD, we are focused on rebuilding a strong, engaged community as part of the renewed resistance. The direction of that movement will, in part, be shaped by this year’s critical elections in Virginia.
This year, we are fighting to defend—and hopefully expand—Democratic majorities while taking back the Governor’s seat. With Virginia and New Jersey holding gubernatorial elections, the eyes of the nation will be on us. The political work to make that a reality starts in March.
Meanwhile, as federal workers face renewed attacks, Virginia Democrats are stepping up! Speaker Don Scott has launched an Emergency Committee on the Impacts of Federal Workforce and Funding Reductions, a bipartisan panel dedicated to assessing the economic fallout and crafting solutions to protect Virginia’s workforce. Finally, next week AYD will be hosting our February events. First AYD will be taking a tour of the National African American History and Culture Museum, tickets for this event are limited and are going fast. Later next week we will be at Kaldi Social House in Crystal City for our monthly social.

Policy Platform Survey
As part of our realignment process for 2025, the AYD Executive Board has decided to suspend caucuses for the year as we evaluate our organizational structure and explore ways to strengthen our advocacy efforts.
Throughout this process, AYD remains dedicated to championing the issues that matter most to young Democrats. To guide our work, we are launching the 2025 Policy Platform Survey [[link removed]] , which will help define our policy priorities and advocacy initiatives for the year. We encourage all members to complete the survey by February 11, 2025 [[link removed]] . Please Remember tomorrow is the deadline to submit!!. If you have any questions, please reach out to us at
