During my time at Heifer International, I’ve witnessed countless families gain the tools and education needed to better their lives — all thanks to your support. I truly can’t thank you enough for your belief in our mission.
However, most of these communities we serve have no access to the electric grid, leaving them disconnected from the outside world.
That’s why we started our solar initiative —

and today, you can be part of the change: When you give to Project Solar, you will help provide a household with a solar panel, switches, wiring and the technical training and support they need to maintain it!
Some of our biggest solar achievements yet are occurring in the Dadi Louis farming community in Nigeria, which has no access to roads or electricity and limited access to fresh water.
Fresh water is located very deep below ground, and due to the nearby ocean, the varying salt levels in the water make it difficult for farmers to plan when to start planting their crops.
The solution? A solar-powered industrial well. Construction of the well provides the community with fresh water year-round, helping to improve their tomato production. Heifer will also train farmers how to grow supplementary crops during the off-season!
