The chaos and criminality of the second Trump administration has already begun in full force, but we at AFJ are undaunted. Our four+ decades of experience means that we have seen both friendly and hostile administrations (including the first Trump administration), and while we cannot predict everything this band of opportunists and convicted felons will do, we have a plan to fight back. Will you join us?

This year, AFJ will block the worst of Trump’s judicial nominees, expand our focus on state courts, organize a powerful pipeline of judges dedicated to justice, and strengthen our movement’s ability to safely oppose the Trump agenda while defending nonprofits against political attacks. We are ready to meet this critical moment with renewed vigor and commitment to defend the progress we have achieved together and to build capacity and power – but we need your support.

Our members, partners, and progressive movements are with us and are organized to confront the extremists that President Trump is positioning for the federal bench. Using all the tools at our disposal, including leveraging procedural tools, deep-dive background research, and networking with our contacts on the Hill, we will shine a bright light on the troubling records of Trump’s extremist nominees and raise the alarm to challenge, delay, and block, their confirmations at every turn.  

Nonprofits of all sizes are deeply concerned about legislation already passed in the House of Representatives that would give the Treasury Department unilateral authority to strip the tax-exempt status of 501(c)(3) organizations it claims support terrorism. The retaliatory Trump team will no doubt invoke it to punish political opponents. Not since the McCarthy era have we seen such unabashed surveillance and intimidation of civil society. Utilizing every strategy at our disposal—from grassroots organizing to strategic Senate maneuvers—we are working tirelessly to delay and defeat the most dangerous nominations so we secure a brighter future for all.
