Hello John,
I'd like to share the Guidance for Youth Organisations on Resuming Full Services after Covid-19 with you.
NYCI and a number of our members have been working with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA) over the past days to translate the general ‘roadmap’ for the phased re-opening of our country into this youth sector specific roadmap.
Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that youth organisations never closed! The creative and innovative ways you have continued supporting young people during the Covid-19 pandemic is a testament to your passion, resilience and commitment.
Now as we move through this crisis, we can begin to look to the future and how - on a carefully managed and phased basis - we can ‘re-open’ normal youth work activities over the coming months.
It is important to stress that the roadmap, we are circulating is a ‘living’ document which will be updated as new public health guidance becomes available.
Work is already underway to develop supporting guidance and training.
In bringing this roadmap guidance to this point we have been working together with the officials in DCYA. That joint working will continue over the coming months as the phased ‘re-opening’ of the sector continues.
Individually and collectively we have made huge efforts by following the rules and by supporting each other and the young people we work with to survive this pandemic. The work of the youth sector has been inspirational. We need to continue those efforts so that we can progress through each of the next phases.
I look forward to receiving your thoughts on the new roadmap.
Kind regards,
Mary
