THEN: He reinforced the Hyde Amendment which restricts several agencies and programs (including Medicaid) from covering abortion services.
NOW: Low‑income and minority women living across the South are particularly at risk. Since most Southern states have either banned or severely restricted abortion access, Medicaid enrollees would be denied care as a result.
