As the American people stand up and fight against Trump’s unjust policies at the national level, it’s important for us Texans to fight back against our wannabe Trumps at the state and local level, too.
At Ground Game Texas, we’re no stranger to attacks from Trump-approved Attorney General Ken Paxton. Just this year, he’s sued to stop enforcement of marijuana decriminalization in Dallas, and two other cities – Lockhart and Bastrop – have used the threat of such lawsuits as an excuse not to enforce their own recently passed cannabis decriminalization policies.
But we’ve gone up against Paxton before, and won. In Austin and San Marcos, our decriminalization policies are still in effect, after Paxton’s suits to stop them were thrown out of two separate courts. These policies are changing lives, keeping innocent people out of jail, reducing racial disparities in criminalization, and saving scarce public resources.
