<[link removed]> Dear Friends and Neighbors, During college, I took a Women in Politics class that opened my eyes to the disparities women face in leadership. I learned that men, even when less qualified, often feel more confident pursuing leadership roles, while women are less likely to step forward or be encouraged to run. I have the chance to encourage a qualified Afro-Latina women to step into leadership. Heidi Silverio is a proud product of our schools, holds a JD, and fights for housing advocacy every day at CF. I’m proud to cast my vote for Heidi Silverio for Providence School Board President. Tomorrow the organizational meeting to choose leadership is at 6pm you can join us at 797 Westminster Street 3rd Floor and show support for the first Afro-Latina President of the Providence School Board. P.S. Some of us are making a motion to table the vote until our colleague Mireya is able to join us, as her mother recently passed away. We anticipate the majority of the board will vote in favor of this motion, but we will remain vigilant. If you’d like to know where I stand regarding the other candidate for President of the School Board.
