This is a volatile moment in our country right now, and many of you are focused on a lot more than a Congressional campaign. We stand alongside concerned citizens who are joining together in Phoenix and around the country. And I'll be honest: my heart wept for America last night when peaceful protestors in our nation's capital were dispersed by tear gas, rubber bullets, and flash grenades. On Saturday night, I wrote to you about the need to listen with empathy to those who have experienced the struggle of race firsthand, and to let them lead us in the difficult but important work ahead.
