Elon Musk has been handed the keys to our government's most sensitive and secure information – including things like our social security numbers.
This is a shameful invasion of your privacy and security.
Right now, House Democrats (including myself) have introduced a bill in response, the Taxpayer Data Protection Act. This legislation would stop people with conflicts of interest or without security clearance (👉 Elon and his posse of interns) from accessing the highly sensitive Treasury Department payment system.
Sounds like a sensible action, right? Here comes the kicker – all we need is just three Republican members to join our efforts and we would be well on our way to cutting off Elon’s unprecedented access.
But — and you are about to get even more furious — House Republicans are currently siding with Elon Musk instead of you.
All we need is three GOP votes to pass what should be bipartisan action to curb unprecedented executive corruption and protect privacy. Instead, we’re getting another example of the urgent need to elect leaders who will actually show up for the American people.
That is why I’m reaching out today. I’m attempting to use every inch of my position in Congress and the Judiciary Committee to reign in Trump’s overreach. I hope you will work with my campaign team to get the resources we need to shift the power balance this cycle. Can I count on you?
The GOP-led Congress is once again failing to take action. Even worse, they are enabling the theft and scamming of the American people.
I know it has been overwhelming, and that is by design. MAGA and those looking to destroy our democratic systems are hoping to overwhelm you into a corner – to not push back.
I’m asking you to not let them have their way. We will not go down without a fight. Help me prove it.
