Last month, Emily gave her first speech on the floor of the House — watch:

Emily spoke out against H.R. 28, the ban on trans women in school sports — the latest cruel Republican-led attack on the LGBTQ+ community.

As she points out, this bill would make schools less safe for women and girls. It gives parents, teachers, and coaches the opportunity to police who looks “feminine” and who doesn’t. It allows for intrusive questions, violations of privacy, and even physical inspections. A better name for it would be the GOP Child Predator Empowerment Act.

The people elected Emily to address the real, pressing challenges facing her neighbors: Housing, healthcare, and the climate crisis. Meanwhile, Republicans are focused on preventing girls from playing on school sports teams with their friends, stripping away the rights of LGBTQ+ people, and attempting to massively defund our public schools and colleges — perhaps to pay to extend the Trump tax cuts for the rich and powerful.
