The Trump administration has suspended our current funding, jeopardizing our programs right now in countries across the world.
This decision has wrought a lot of chaos and uncertainty, but we are sure of the following disastrous and immediate impacts of this stop work order:
- In Yemen, over 220,000 people displaced by conflict or natural disasters will lose access to lifesaving emergency relief deliveries of essential items.
- In Sudan and its surrounding countries, thousands of displaced people will lose emergency sexual and reproductive health services and gender-based violence prevention and response services.
- In Bangladesh, nearly 600,000 beneficiaries will be at risk of losing sexual and reproductive health and violence prevention and response services.
In just 90 days, experts estimate that a total of 11.7 million women and girls will lose access to crucial care, 4.2 million more unintended pregnancies will occur, and nearly 10,000 women will die from maternal causes as a result of this freeze of programs from UNFPA and other organizations delivering reproductive healthcare.
We are dedicated to being there for women and girls, no matter what. But with our already-approved funding suspended right now, we urgently need your support.
Will you make an emergency gift so we can continue delivering lifesaving care and services to women and girls around the world who desperately need it during this time of uncertainty?
Thank you for being there.
