Apparently, if no real child was harmed, Democrats think these predators deserve a break. Never mind that these criminals took deliberate steps to commit a crime—law enforcement had to step in before an actual child became the victim. Child safety advocates argue that tough penalties deter predators, but Democrats seem more worried about making life easier for sex offenders. If this bill passes, Washington will be sending a disturbing message: attempted exploitation of children just isn’t that big of a deal. Instead of holding offenders accountable, this bill lets them erase their records by completing a feel-good program—because clearly, consequences are just too harsh. Washington Democrats: Parents? Who Needs ‘Em!

As Shift previously reported, Democrats in Olympia are working overtime to strip parents of their rights, with Senate Majority Leader Jaime Pedersen outright declaring that 13-year-olds should make major medical decisions without parental knowledge or consent. After voting for a parental rights bill last year, Democrats are now gutting it, ensuring parents are left in the dark about their kids’ medical treatments and even law enforcement issues at school. Even worse, House Democrats voted against notifying parents if a school employee sexually abuses their child—because apparently, keeping parents informed is just too much to ask. Meanwhile, Pedersen also admitted they plan to close prisons and mental health facilities, because nothing says “public safety” like fewer jails in a crime wave. Democrats Are Busy Banning Fancy Food While Ignoring Real Problems

With crime surging and homelessness out of control, Democrats in Olympia have decided their top priority is… banning foie gras. House Bill 1735 would outlaw the sale, possession, and even transportation of the delicacy, because apparently, government overreach wasn’t quite extensive enough. Meanwhile, there’s no evidence of any active foie gras farms in Washington, making this bill pure political theater to placate animal rights activists. Instead of fixing the problems ruining everyday life in the state, Democrats are focused on virtue-signaling bans on what rich people eat. Read more at the Center Square.

Washington Prioritizes Illegal Immigrant Aid Over Taxpayers

KVI’s Ari Hoffman recently pointed out on X that, despite facing a massive $12-16 billion budget shortfall, Washington state has funneled at least $16.5 million to organizations openly supporting illegal immigrants, including the NW Immigrant Rights Project and WISN—a group that describes itself as “queer and transgender founded & led.” Meanwhile, groups that don’t openly admit to aiding illegal immigrants received only $9 million. Rather than cutting wasteful spending like this, Olympia is threatening to slash first responders, all so they can justify hitting taxpayers with even more taxes. Check out the full figures here.
