Friend, last week Trump and Elon Musk made it harder to find a cure for cancer, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, heart attacks, strokes, and other debilitating diseases that devastate millions of American families by illegally cutting funding to the National Institutes of Health.

Here in Massachusetts, NIH funding is the lifeblood of our innovation economy, creating good-paying jobs and helping to deliver lifesaving care and treatments across the county. This is a direct attack on our jobs, our economy, and our reputation as a global hub for innovation.

For some reason Elon’s so-called Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE - has decided it’s not worth it to invest in medical and public health research. That’s it’s not worth it to invest in protecting Americans’ health and well being. That’s not efficiency, that’s stupidity. It’s not just bad values, it’s bad budgeting.

Soon after the Massachusetts Attorney General announced she is suing the Trump administration alongside 21 other Attorneys General, a judge put a hold on Trump’s NIH cuts. Ed will be doing his part too, as the ranking member of the Primary Health and Pensions Subcommittee in the Senate, to protect NIH.

Trump and Musk are on an illegal, unconstitutional rampage through the federal government. From NIH, to the Environmental Protection Agency, to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, they will not rest until programs and agencies that deliver real benefits to regular Americans are slashed so they can lower their and their billionaires buddies’ tax bills.

It’s undemocratic and un-American. And it’s up to Congress and the courts to play their role in holding this runaway presidency accountable.

Help Ed keep up the pressure in the Senate and continue to stand against Trump’s agenda. We have to build a popular movement that will say clearly that we will not stand for the looting of American taxpayers. [[link removed]]
