We know that with fair representation, we can restore our right to choose in Florida. Just months ago, 57% of Floridians voted to overturn our state’s extreme 6-week abortion ban. If 57% of our state legislature was pro-choice, proportionally representing our voting citizens, there would be no 6-week abortion ban.
Being a pro-choice candidate or representative for office means more than just opposing the current abortion ban. Women’s rights, and our status as full and equal citizens today, are under attack. These bans are just the first step in trying to silence us and take away our right to control our own destinies. Without personal autonomy, our right to work, to study, to vote, to represent our peers in government, and build the future that we deserve are all at risk.
Our nation’s political discourse and climate are becoming increasingly hostile to women who do not fall in line with conservative men’s mandates on our lives. So much is on the line, and we need more women on the front lines fighting for us.
