[link removed] [[link removed]] This has been a devastating month for our Southern California community, friend.

From the wildfires that destroyed thousands of acres in southern San Diego just a few weeks ago to the ones that ravaged our neighbors in Los Angeles, my heart is with all of those who have lost so much.

Through all the destruction, we’ve also witnessed the bravery of firefighters from across the state, country, and even abroad, who have come together to put their lives on the line to defend others. Join me in taking a moment to thank them for their incredible service → [[link removed]]

Witnessing the devastation brought on by these fires has reminded us all that our lives can change in an instant.

But from the firefighters in our local community, to those who crossed borders to help out their neighbors, and the incarcerated folks who put their lives on the line to take care of their communities, I am in awe of the bravery and resilience we’ve witnessed in response to tragedy.

As your supervisor, I’m committed as ever to ensuring our fire departments have the resources they need to keep us safe, and that those who have lost their livelihoods have everything they need to rebuild.

Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge the people who have helped fight the California wildfires this past month.

Wishing you all safety,

Monica Montgomery Steppe,
District Four Supervisor | San Diego County Board of Supervisors
